Closing song: Al Green — “Let’s Stay Together”
I’d never heard of Enneagrams either, but I took a test immediately once I got home (not 9types.com because I didn’t want anything sugar-coated). Turns out I’m a type three, which means I will walk all over anyone to get what I want, but secretly think I’m shit (true!) Enneagrams>Meyers/Briggs.
What site did you take your text on, Kat? I want to make sure I really am a 4!

(A bit on the New-agey side, but very thorough!)
I just took this and I’m a 4, all right! It says my strongest wing is 3.
Ok…I know I am going to be a dissenting voice here, and I’m nervous to even express my discomfort…but can we please – pretty please – stop with the feminist hating on the Dong? (I asked nice – see, not ALL feminists are angry!) I’ve been a feminist for years and have been involved with tons and tons of feminist women, and not a single one has met my definition of “man hater”. The “man-hating ugly lesbian bra-burner” is a caricature of feminism created by the opposition; aka the Rush Limbaugh definition of feminism. There are no respected feminist icons that advocate anything that could be construed as “hating men”. Just to clarify.
This would be akin to me insisting that Stephanie is a crazy fundamentalist because WBC represents ALL of Christianity, facts be damned!
I totes respect your right to not identify as a feminist, but if you support equality of opportunity and choice for women…um, I have bad news for you, but you might be a feminist.
I just wanted to voice my concerns; Dontini is one of my favorite podcasts, but I’m sure you would understand that its hard to hear part of your identity bashed, particularly when you feel the accusations are misplaced or inaccurate. I know you wouldn’t care if you had one less listener, but it would bother me quite a bit. Favorite podcast and all that.
So, yeah…in my infinite wisdom, if maybe the Dong could refrain from instantly characterizing feminists as man-haters or crazy extremists…that would be awesome. Tikku!
Hi Amanda! We like dissenting voices! Fear not! Your comment is really valid and I wish we’d gone into it more to clarify. We plan to when Stephy finishes the book!
But yeah, it’s totally the wrong perception to have of feminism and indeed I’ve always been one whether I knew it or not. I’m finding this sort of thing with atheists not wanting the title of atheist and the baggage that goes with it so I’m actually in an exchange with my atheist feminist friend about these labels. As I said to her, at it’s core, wanting women to be in control of their own lives is sort of a “Well, duh” issue for me so being actively feminist seemed (perhaps incorrectly) like an excessive step forward past the obvious which iI undoubtedly support! When we really get into it, I think we’ll really get into the meat of the misconceptions about it and other labels.
I hope this answer helps for now! I’m actually so ready to have this conversation now but I’m typing on my phone and would like to castrate the man who made this type pad.
Also, thanks for your support and comment! Yay!

There is no feminist hating on Dongtini, as I personally identify as a feminist. And part of helping the feminist cause is naming the ways feminists present themselves as unlikeable because that does more to harm the cause feminism than any single other thing
I’m a 4 too!
Listening to you two talk about it, I had a feeling that I was, but I just took the test linked in Kat’s comment, and it’s definitely true.
My strongest wing is 5, which makes me “The Bohemian.” I have to admit, I like that.
Thanks so much for introducing this, I had never heard of it either!
And I agree with Kat, this is much better than Myers/Briggs.
Okay, I took this one and now it says I’m a 9! It says 9 is often mistaken for a 4 so that makes it seem like I’m on the right path! Mostly all applied to me, but notably this: “Being overlooked is often a source of a deep sadness in Nines, a sadness that they scarcely ever give voice to.” Poor me!
Should I keep taking more tests until I get more consistent results? I want a proper diagnosis now. I have more questions about the questions. I wish there was a question “You’re compelled to demand more information about many of these questions.” I bet that would really say something.
I’m a 9! (Now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d get to use!)
“It’s like Axe body spray for your nails.” Was just awesomely put! You can butch it up all you like at the end of they day, you’re still a man wearing nail polish. If you’re a man who can’t wear nail polish proudly without pretending it’s really not nail polish then maybe you should just stop wearing nail polish! (Same goes for “manscara”. Seriously, you’re wearing make-up. Deal with it.)
Thanks for playing my dongmail! I feel like I’ll be either breastfeeding or pretend breastfeeding someone forever!!! UGH! Sorry I talked so much. Also, I’ve been wanting to read that book. I’m so happy to hear all about it. xoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxooxo
