Seattle sounds like a magical place! I’m no fan of sunshine – which is awkward since South Africa gets a fuckton of sunshine all the time always – so I would LOVE to live in a place that is cloudy and rainy and cold all the time! Though, the immanent city destroying megaquake does make me think that maybe Seattle is not the place for me…
Also how do you people live with so little security?! I was shocked and amazed when I visited the US and saw how the people there lived. I could have broken into every house in that neighbourhood and I don’t even have any criminal skills! The US has the most serial killers of any place in the world, how are you people not more paranoid??
loved Simone’s take on Taco Bell in prison… but there is the issue of cruel and unusual punishment. I love Taco Bell just for their sheer imagination: how many variations can they make with four ingredients? Have you ever noticed how everything there tastes the same, just looks different? (sort of) It’s perverse what they have done to Mexican food.
Castilian Spanish has what we might consider a lisp and lands funny on our ear. For instance gracias is pronounced grathias. I looked on youtube for an example and thought I had found a gem- Mary Poppins singing Spoon Full of Sugar in Castilian Spanish (Thpoon Full of Thugar), but alath, the words for spoon and sugar don’t begin with S in Castilian Spanish.

my husband and i LOOOOOVE the cloudy (some might say gloomy) weather of the pacific northwest and regularly fantasize about moving there just for the weather. we heard that the reason so many artists have come out of that area is due to the way artists tend to be more inspired in cloudy weather. and we have actually noticed that we are more productive and have more energy on a rainy day! HA!
