Dongtini — Episode 39
April 11, 2012 in Podcast by dongtini
On this episode: our parents confiscated Appetite For Destruction and In Utero, did yours? Simone queries Stephy on the resurrection, we squabble over whether soul patches or goatees are worse, and Stephy’s friend had some surprise surgery…at a party, not a hospital.

Closing song: Mike Patton — “Deep Down”
Oh man, my dad has a soul patch. Also a stupid mustache, pretty sure he’s been trying for a Frank Zappa look going on 35 years now. Guess what? He’s evil! So evil it’s made me put all my projects on the shelf, DongTiki and DongChrist are to remain in an unfinished state until I get my shit together.
Here’s some consolation dongs in the mean time:

Damn it, Stephy. I just watched a Fly Lady video about sinks because of you.
Oh man, that video. Sorry. But not sorry.
And then I felt bad about my sink.
But then you shined it and felt awesome, right?
I think Simone made a great point about Jesus forgiving everyone’s sin. Atheists often get told they can’t be trusted because they have no reason to behave morally because they don’t believe in God. Yet Christians believe that it doesn’t matter how much evil you do, as long as you confess your sin and ask forgiveness – from God, not the people you harmed – everything is forgiven. So really what is the difference between someone not believing in justice after death and someone believing in an afterlife but who also believe they can erase all the consequences of their actions just by asking for it to be so?
Yeah Eugene, it’s one of the biggest holes I find in Christianity and I hadn’t even thought of the fact that it asks you to ask forgiveness from God rather than the people you harmed. AA seems to have a much better approach to that!
In any event, thankfully not all Christians think atheists are morally bankrupt. Just ignorant ones.

It’s a sporting goods/gun store in Tulsa, OK.
For. The. WIN
How has this alluded us for so long. I think that must be the ultimate clueless dong.
Dong is a really unfortunate last name! The people who started the store were friends w/my late grandfather.
I left a comment days ago and it’s still “awaiting moderation”! A single swear word and a couple of links? What is this some kinda Dongtalitarian regime?
I know nothing about this. At Drurkington Enterprises the use of profanity is encouraged. It’s an important part of the Dongtalitarian regime.
Sorry, Crystal! I got the email showing it but I didn’t realise it was awaiting moderation. I didn’t set the parameters of the spam filter, that’s for bloody sure. It’s just posts with links it’s wary of, not motherfucking cunt cocksucking swear words.
Hi Guys,
After watching a TV program here in Australia (George Pell vs Richard Dawkins). I was wondering your thoughts on religious influence on laws and the fact that if a majority vote for a law that has religious influence; would you accept it?
Personally I would never vote for a law that was based on religious belief, but I would uphold it if a majority did.
This is a great question, Daniel! We just recorded episodes 40 and 41 and then I’m going home to Australia on Thursday, but we plan to record while I’m there so I’ll put this question on the list for episode 42. Thanks!
