Dongtini — Episode 65
October 12, 2012 in Podcast by dongtini
On this episode: Las Vegas took the clean folded laundry of Simone’s mind and threw it in the hamper, Stephy sorta participated in teaching compassion to the Seattle Police Department, and they both wrestle with the ethical tension of eating at Costco and Ikea. Also: inhumane Christianizing at funerals, Stephy can’t stop laughing at ridiculous cat “facts,” listener voicemail, the Sri Lankan twins on The Amazing Race, eating fallopian tubes for sport, and a gay guy’s blog about ladysteak.

Closing song: Dave Bazan — “Bearing Witness”
Even when I was a very devout Christian, I always hated the way people talked about the dead at funerals. I don’t know how cross cultural this is but I’ve often heard people say how God “plucked the most beautiful flower from His garden”, especially when a child died. That always left me with a bad case of WTF?! It sounds more like something from Greek mythology where you had to hope and pray you were mediocre because if you stood out in any way you may attract the attention of a god and then your life would be fucked. I mean I get that a preacher can’t use the words “damn guys, this shit is fucked up” from the pulpit but these trite rationalizations are THE WORST!
On a lighter note, I would just like to say that if you’re a tourist in the US and your home currency is almost laughably worthless then Costco Polish dogs are the best thing in the world! I don’t care what they put inside, it’s only a dollar and it filled me up for at least half a day!
As you were a day late, I went to Kuala Lumpur and couldn’t listen to Epi 65 til today! Well as one of your chosen team mates in TAR, I too would expect you to eat meat if it was for the million! Oh and I forgot to tell you, epi 1 of the race aired and I missed the adds for it so I have to download and watch now that i’m back from KL! You ladies crack me up! Can’t wait to listen to epi 66!! Yay!!
