Dongtini — Episode 8
August 30, 2011 in Podcast by dongtini
This time Stephy and Simone talk about bloody sibling brawls and share stripper fascination/disdain, Simone confesses a new love for an objectively horrible song, tells you about time she harassed Jane Wiedlin from the Go-Go’s, and together they describe the Gayest House In LA. Cats and kids are assaulting their respective doors but they are handled quickly, and with severity.

And now the Gayest House in LA aka House of Gaydom. Read the LA Times piece on it and behold the gaeity:
The Gayest House in LA on an average day. |
The Gayest House In LA on Michael Jackson’s birthday. |
A solitary David in a Beat It jacket |
A throne of homage. |
Simone on the phone with Stephy telling her about the Michael Jackson-ified House of Gaydom |
Simone’s cat Birdsworth reading up on the House of Gay |
And here is the Tim Heidecker/Robert Popper prank call
that makes Stephy laugh-cry:

Closing song: The Gentle Waves—”Falling From Grace”
Sorry for all my breathing and p-popping into the mic. It's really pissing me off and I'll fix it next time, GAH! Sorry!
Another Great Podcast! Don't apologize for the audio, I found it delightfully realistic. Also, bringing the kids and cats into the mix, pure genius.
Stephanie as you talked about your adolescence, what came to mind was that show Daria. It seems like you could have been the real life template. Maybe something to exploit later…
The Timewaster Letters, by Robin Cooper (Robert Popper) has quickly become a family favorite. Cool to hear it mentioned.
Thanks again guys for taking the time and effort to make this podcast. Great listening fun!
Doesn't Simone look demure in that picture.
So very, considering she was in standing in the wake of all that gayness!
As if butter wouldn't melt in her mouth.
I think when you enlarge the picture I look quite wanky and excited, which was the case at the time.
Okay…behind on my commenting as I see you've posted episode 9. Here are some quick notes on episode 8 that I scribbled down while listening to the show a week ago:
-My sister Chrissy and I would have fights where we would grab each others' hair and run away as fast as we could with the other often dragging behind kicking and screaming. We also did a weird thing where we would dip each others' underwear in water, freeze it and then throw it at one another. I think we cracked a window once and got in trouble. No fights in public.
-Thank you for play music from Ghost World in the background.
-I watched that season of Surreal Life and hated DaBrat. My other favorite season was the one where Tammy Faye and Ron Jeremy became fast friends.
-Always make fun of things that I end up loving (not sure what this was referencing).
-I feel bad for Chaz Bono on Dancing With The Stars. People are being so mean to shim.
-"Gay Ryan"?
-I've noticed it is socially acceptable to pick your nose in public as long as your thumb is doing the picking.
-Does Judah ever ask David about his sexual past? Why do you (Steph) always get the third degree?
That's all…
Ryan!
-Thanks for noticing the Ghsot World music. It's one of my top three films.
-Glad you also hated DaBrat. I'll try to tell myself you'd have done the same if youw ere drunk and Jane Wiedlin was right there.
-Poor Chaz. Has that started yet? I want to watch.
-How about "Commenter Ryan"? or should it be "Gay Commenter Ryan"?
-Thank you for the nose picking tip. Really.
-Yeah, Stephy. Is David off the hook?
Simone,
*squealllll* Ghost World is such an stellar movie and sort of my litmus test for friends. I feel like there is not gray area in liking it: you either love it or your don't get it. You've passed.
Jane Wiedlin is so cute and I used to have a big crush on pixie girls (before I realized I liked peen) because of her. She went solo and sang a song "Blue Kiss" that I would listen to on repeat for hours.
-Fire Ryland
I just HONKED laughing at Fire Ryland!!
You ask a very interesting question. David does not get the third degree on these things because he shuts it down. He's so retro.
