Oh, this is interesting! I didn't know the backstory, I think they activated some early football trauma and I've avoided learning more about them. This is interesting, thanks!

This is kind of a weird thing to quibble about because I don't actually give a shit about the NFL but I think Stephy is a little off about the Harbaughs. Jim's the dick, John's the "nice guy". Jim screams and stomps and pouts and will no doubt have a stroke or a heart attack before he hits 50. John's the laid back big brother who generally stays pretty calm. The narrative at the Super Bowl was that the power outage brought John over the dark side when he had a meltdown about communications. He wouldn't shut up about how bad he felt about that after. Just pointing it out because I think Stephy might like John just based on the fact that he's a devout Catholic who isn't an asshole about it. He's a pretty decent role model in that sense. I'm an atheist and I find his whole "respect everybody's beliefs and include everybody" approach to religion pretty appealing. I have no doubt that he'd frown upon my atheism (he's a Catholic, of *course* he would) but he wouldn't throw me in the back of a van and force me to go to Mass.

On a serious note regarding CC's obsession with "purity" I would strongly recommend reading Libby Anne's blog Love Joy Feminism (if you aren't already). She grew up homeschooled, fundamentalist and in the Quiverfull movement and is now a very happy atheist & feminist and I could really relate to her stuff about the damage this is doing to people. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/lovejoyfeminism/the-purity-culture

Both:
